FIGHTING LYONS ELITE SQUAD TRYOUTS

Elite Ninja Tryouts are an opportunity for you to take your Ninja Warrior journey to the next level. This stepping stone is an opportunity to build on recreational classes and develop the skills required for state and national affiliate competitions such as ANF, NCL and UNAA. 

These sessions focus on improving specific skills, strength, conditioning and coordination in a structured, supported team environment. Unlike recreational sessions, being a Fighting Lyons Elite competitor will focus on specific foundational and advanced obstacles/tasks each week, allowing you to consistently and safely improve your abilities.

Elite Squad Members will also now train in age groups.

Importantly, Elite Squad Members will represent Fighting Lyons both within the gym and on a local, state and international level. This involves the proper uniform, a training commitment to Fighting Lyons, and competing under the Fighting Lyons banner at all competitions.

TRYOUT TIMES
Different age groups in at different times – 25 spots per age group available in the elite squad

AGE 5-8 YEARS: Sunday Feb 28 – 8:00am – 10:00am

AGE 9-12: Saturday Feb 27 – 1:40pm – 4:00pm

AGE 13+: Sunday Feb 28 – 10:00am – 12:00pm

ALL AGES: Saturday March 6 – 2:30pm – 4:30pm

No results will be delivered on the day – you will receive an email in regards to the outcome of your tryout.

Elite Commitments

Elite Ninja is both challenging and rewarding, and requires commitment. In accepting your 2021 Elite Ninja offer, you are agreeing to the terms below:

Representing Fighting Lyons

  • You will be required to represent Fighting Lyons in any local, state or national competitions. 
  • If training at another club, please inform your coach of the times and dates.
  • A training uniform is compulsory.
    • TOP: A Fighting Lyons singlet, t-shirt, hoodie or crop is mandatory.
    • BOTTOMS: Black pants/Shorts (can be plain).

You will be able to fill out an order for each Elite participant in regards to clothing requests. 

Membership & Attendance

  • Your membership will change to an Elite Membership, which allows access to both Junior Ninja classes and designated Elite classes.
  • Compulsory attendance of your assigned elite class, striving for 100% attendance.

Teamwork
The ethos of Ninja Warrior is that you are only competing against one thing: the course! Teamwork is therefore integral to the Elite Squad. Each Elite Squad Member will be placed into a House, with each House being rewarded for qualities like hard effort, teamwork, team spirit and obstacle achievements. Points may be deducted for poor behaviour.

Code of Conduct

  • Respect, encouragement and support towards others.
  • Zero bullying tolerance.
  • An excellent workrate and a positive attitude
  • Parents are not permitted to coach children from the sideline during sessions or competitions.
  • If any issues need to be addressed, please arrange a meeting with the coach in order to discuss.
  • 3-Step Behavioural policy:
    • 1. Verbal Warning to the Elite Squad Member with notice to parents
    • 2. Elite Squad Member will be asked to sit out and will be suspended from training until a meeting is arranged with parents.
    • 3. A third incident will result in discontinuation of Elite membership and your position will be given to someone else. You can then try out for the next year’s squad.
